Surface pattern design refers to the creation of original pattern designs that repeat endlessly and can be used on a variety of soft and hard surfaces. For example: fabric, home decor and furnishings, wallpapers, ceramics, and so much more. Pattern designs can be floral, geometric, and everything in-between.

Surface pattern designers usually work in collections — a group of patterns that are cohesive and work together as a whole to create a beautiful design statement.

The three surface pattern designs on this page are from my “Something Fishy’s Going On” design collection. It’s such a fun, playful, colorful collection alive with energy. The designs can be used for outdoor living decor — cushions, pillows, towels, rafts, umbrellas, rugs. I also envision the designs on kids’ bathing suits and clothing.
