How Life Influences Art

Tootsie Inspiration!

Four weeks ago, I adopted three delightfully, sweet-natured kittens. My intention was to adopt two sibling sisters. When I got to the rescue, there was a third sister, and I could not leave her behind. Needless to say, my household is a little nutty right now with all the kitten energy flying around — I absolutely love it!

One kitten is a tuxedo and her name is Dottie. The other two kittens are black. Their names are Tootsie and Mona. All have their unique personalities, and even have distinct meows.

Tootsie is the smallest in the trio. Some might refer to her as the runt, but never me. I refer to her as being more “kitten-esque.” She is the inspiration for my first black kitten graphic. The sleek silhouette of Tootsie sitting at my slider gazing out was enough for me to grab my camera. When she turned and looked at me with that sweet expression, I knew this image would become part of my art in some way or form.

Drumroll, please — here she is — created last night in Procreate. I cannot wait to experiment with Tootsie’s graphic. I have a feeling that she’s going to be the star of my first Tootsie pattern! Stay tuned!
